Sandy Neck Beach

Sandy Neck Beach

Over 6 miles long with 4700 acres of rolling dunes, marshes, and beachfront, Sandy Neck sits in both the Town of Sandwich and the Town of Barnstable.

If you're expecting a white sandy beach, you maybe disappointed- there are rocks here and lots of them- so much in fact, that many people call it, lovingly, Rocky Neck.

But it's still a beautiful beach with hiking trails that meander through the dunes with breathtaking views, drawing both sunbathers and hikers. Like many Cape Cod Beaches, there is parking but with just 200 parking spots, you'll have to get there early, especially when a heat wave washes over the Cape.

The water here is chilly, and don't expect those big waves found further up Cape. Instead, you'll discover a beach that blossoms during low tide, with warmer tidal pools, swimming with all sorts of little oceany creatures. Tap into your inner child and enjoy the tidal pools, search for starfish, throw a frisbee, splash around.

Sandy Neck at low tide is perfect for this.

Though we've never been, you can do some primitive tent camping here but need to hike in the 3 1/3 miles to the rustic site. They provide sites with 5 gallons of water each night, have portable toilets, and impose a two-night maximum stay. Cost of this rustic camping experience? Just $20.00 per night! You can check out their website for specifics You can visit their website at www.Sandy Neck Beach

They recently completed a new bathhouse and snack bar, so if you don't have time to pack a snack or drink, you won't go hungry.

There are outdoor showers, restrooms and changing facilities. Parking costs $15.00 per weekday and $20.00 for the weekend.
