Best Hotels/Resorts on the beach

by Maureen
(Yonkers, NY)

My boyfriend and I have never been to Cape Cod and are looking forward to going Aug 28-31, 2011.

We would like to stay along the beach.

I was interested in the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis and they seemed to have the best deal but was 10 minutes from the beach. I liked the fact they had massages and spa.

I'm looking for a nice resort feel with Cape Cod character and decor that has private beach.

What do you recommend?

Enjoy your visit!

You'll love Solstice Spa! Great choice. It was recently listed as the favorite Spa on Cape and our friend just had a facial there last week and gave it high reviews.

Enjoy your trip and do let us know about your stay. We'll be adding several more restaurant reviews, too so be sure to take a look and if you happen to dine at one of the restaurants listed, please feel free to send in your comments!

The lobster rolls are enormous and our newest reviewer just had lunch at The Raw Bar this past weekend and we will be adding that to our reviews in a few days.

Make sure to head to the beach at night to watch the sunsets- the lower Cape, which includes Ptown, Truro, Wellfleet, is our favorite area and those beaches are just so beautiful. Check out our page on the National Seashore Beaches.

Enjoy your Stay!!!!

Chose the Anchor In
by: Anonymous

Hi Karen and Michael. Thank you for your response. Last week, I decided to go ahead and take a leap of faith and book the Anchor In from Aug 28-Sept 1. It was the only one on trip advisor in my price range where all the reviews were favorable and glowing. Cape Codder had mixed reviews and I felt I should be closer to the ocean/harbor.

I never heard of the Cape Cod Ocean Manor in Hyannis. I will look into that but I already paid for one night at the Anchor In. They required one night deposit and the rest paid upon arrival. If I cancel outside 7 days of my reservation, I get my refund minus $20.

If I like the Cape Cod Ocean Manor enough and the price is right, I might switch or I will definitely check it out in person when I am there so I know for next time where to stay. I'm sure I'll make another trip after Aug 2011.

As for massages, I found the Solstice Day Spa on 408 Main St which is a 15 min walk from the Anchor In or 2 - 5 min drive. I plan to make an appt there. It looks really nice.

I wanted to be in walking distance of the Hy Line Ferry. I will take a trip to Nantucket and do one of those island tours. I also wanted to walk to the Train Station in Hyannis. I want to take the Cape Cod Scenic Narration Tour. And I DEFINITELY want to eat a lobster roll at THE RAW BAR which is also near the ferry. So it made sense to choose the Anchor in. I found out parking can be expensive by the Hy Line Ferry and Train Station so it makes sense to leave car at the Anchor In and walk to those destinations and save some money that way and use it for those lobster rolls. I can't believe they cost $30 but I'm sure they're worth it. They look HUGE and SCRUMPTIOUS!!

I also plan to take a drive to Provincetown and North Truro and check out the towns and beaches there too.

I can't wait to go. I will let you know how I like the Anchor In and surrounding areas.

I wish I had more time. 4 days is not enough.

Thanks for your help.

Nice spot but there are other options....

Hi Maureen,

If you'd like to stay on the beach, I'm not sure the Cape Codder is what you are looking for because it is right on Route 132, a busy thoroughfare.

Their spa is great but don't forget that you can still visit their spa without actually staying there.

If you are set on Hyannis, take a peek at the Anchor-In. Although we haven't stayed there, we hear good things about the place from web visitors and friends who have stayed there. It's not on the beach but the harbor is right across the street.

If you want a bit closer, you might check out Cape Cod Ocean Manor in Hyannis, a small B&B with fabulous views and a beach right across the street.

Let us know where you end up and send in a review!

Karen and Michael
