A Chinese Treat on Main Street in Hyannis
We were thrilled to have found decent Chinese food on Cape since we're both a bit picky when it comes to asian cuisine. Well, at least Karen is because she lived in New York City for a few years while attending NYU and swears that you could up a good chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce on just about every corner.
But those were college days...and..well, let's say, Karen was a social butterfly and liked to go clubbing so perhaps her taste buds weren't so refined back them.
Dragon Lite is our pick for Chinese food, though Peking Palace in Falmouth and Asia in Mashpee are great bets, too.
Near the west end of Main Street and adjacent to a joke and 'adult' only shop, Dragon Lite offers reasonably good dishes served up by some pretty friendly waiters. We are always amazed how gracious these waiters are despite probably working 10 or 15 hours a day.
It has a small bar drawing some interesting folks for cocktails. If you have a chance, head there for a quick pre-dinner drink and you'll feel as though you're in a parallel universe.
The peking ravioli or dumplings as we called them in New York, are quite good, pan fried or steamed but we always ask for a side of hot oil on the side for added heat. Michael loves the hot and sour soup, gingerly fishing out anything too green.
We tend to get chicken and broccoli and garlic sauce, or Amazing chicken when we order Chinese and as we write this, we realize that we need to try some new dishes. If you like your food spicy, it's best to emphasize really spicy, hence our calls for hot sauce.
They do have a substantial sushi menu but we tend to go to Inaho in Yarmouth port when we crave Japanese food.
